What's Life Like
Whole-Person EducationLearning happens everywhere, in the classroom and beyond. Our professors will be the first to tell you. That's why they connect with students outside of class. And that's why PC offers so many opportunities to experience life and the world. We're setting a foundation for you to learn from any experience. That's what liberal arts education is all about.
RelationshipsPeople make the difference at Presbyterian College. The strength of our relationships moves us to take risks. Imagine meeting a professor regularly for lunch to talk about your goals and interests. Or becoming close friends with the student body president, who inspires you to run for election. The person who introduces you to your ideal job might be an upperclass student who shares your passion. There's a crossing of boundaries you don't find at other schools. No matter what group you belong to - students, faculty, Greeks, athletes, seniors, freshmen - you'll feel like you're part of one community: PC.
FaithPart of the whole-person education here at PC involves spiritual and faith development. Everyone's required to take two courses in religion to better understand Christian teachings and ethics. Beyond that, you choose the way you want to express your faith. At PC, you'll join students from many different religious backgrounds. You'll find great opportunities to grow in your faith through numerous fellowship groups, spiritual retreats, student-led campus worship services, and other activities coordinated through the Chaplain's office. Local congregations are very welcoming to PC students -- most have families who "adopt" PC students.
ServiceService is a way of life at PC. It's second nature for students, faculty, and staff, who believe reaching out and helping others gives life meaning. Nearly every student participates in some form of service before graduating. Not because it's required, but because it's an important part of life, particularly at PC. It's something we've been doing from the beginning, a tradition our founders expressed in our motto: "While we live, we serve."
HonorHonesty and integrity. That's what the Honor Code means to everyone here. Students, faculty, and staff all pledge to act honorably and truthfully. It comes from our Christian heritage and gives PC a distinct culture based in strong values. At PC, you're trusted to take exams free of supervision and use computer labs 24 hours a day.
If you forget your cell phone in the library, you will probably find it there when you return. Those who break the Honor Code are reviewed by peers on the Honor Council and treated responsibly. That's our Honor System, and it something we're proud to uphold.
InternshipsYou'll be amazed by the opportunities to experience on-the-job training and get your foot in the door at Fortune 500 companies. Our great location, right in the middle of the booming Southeast Atlantic states, offers access to major corporations, regional and local companies, and professional firms -- all within a short drive by interstate. You'll draw on connections through faculty and alumni. The Office of Career Services/Internships guides you through the internship application process and puts you in touch with employers through the Summer Job and Internships Fair, various career fairs, and employer interviews.
