You will handle calls (as many as 50 a day) from HR Administrators from our small groups. Questions from the Administrators will be related to new members' benefits information, policy renewals, updates or changes to insurance coverage and "how to" navigational questions related to our enrollment and database applications.
The Group Services Representative needs to offer a professional image, which conveys knowledge and integrity to the client. Excellent customer service skills and a strong customer orientation are very important. Computer proficiency in a Windows based environment will be necessary for navigating our clients through our software programs. Previous account management and customer service experience would be an asset. You will work with other key individuals such as our Account Consultants, Data Analysts and our Import Services team to troubleshoot enrollment errors, service issues and better answer member questions.

Data Import Specialist: On the Import Services team, you can expect to work with as many as ten insurance carriers and clients, or groups, ranging in size from one member to as many as 2,000 members. The insurance carrier sends each Import Specialist their members’ data (SS#, address, dependents, coverage start date, medical, life and dental coverage needed, etc.) and the Data Import Analyst then “loads” this information into our software applications using both Oracle and proprietary software.
This individual will use analytical and problem solving skills to find and eliminate errors during and after each data load. Common errors may include: the number of dependents are incorrect, the coverage level selected does not match total number of dependents, the coverage effective date does not coincide with their start date, etc. Through the use of Oracle based tools and pre-written SQL queries, our Import team can search for errors and notify our Implementation Consultants of these errors before the client, or group, goes “live” in our software application.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or other technical field preferred
- Previous work experience with SQL queries is helpful
- Knowledge of Oracle database systems

Junior Software Engineer: As a software engineer at Benefitfocus, you will play a key role in the development of new technology products in web based health insurance and benefits enrollment. You must be experienced with formal software development lifecycles, processes, and be able to assist in their implementation. To be considered for this position, you will need a minimum of two years experience in Java application development. Weblogic experience would be a plus. You must be highly competent at deploying and troubleshooting large software systems. Junior Data Analyst: As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and synchronization of the data we provide to our clients. Data will come in the form of the policyholder’s name, date of birth, coverage effective date, SS#, home address, etc. Because our data is continually being updated by our clients, the task of ensuring data integrity and synchronization is critical to the success of our company.
As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for handling changes in data made by the HR Administrator and researching issues during data transmissions. Updates to a policyholder’s information or healthcare coverage are first entered by the HR Administrator (client). Updates are continuously being made 24/7. This information is then sent to us for analysis before being submitted to the insurance carrier. The Data Analyst will run reports to ensure the information received by the client is without errors. If errors are caught, the Analyst may manually make changes or research why such errors are present (whether it be a mistake internally or one made by the HR Administrator). Once the data has been scanned for discrepancies using Oracle based tools, the Analyst prepares a “data extraction.” The “extraction” sends the “clean” healthcare data to the insurance carrier.
As a Data Analyst, you will have to be very detail orientated to ensure errors are caught before the data is “extracted” or sent to the insurance carrier. On going communication with HR Administrators will also be required to make sure the appropriate information was received properly.
