I did many things. I supported staff by taking meds up to patient floors and filling order lists from different areas of the hospital. Under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist, I observed making bulk medicine, which means separating meds that come in bulky containers into individual packets).
I also pulled and mixed IV's under Mr. Blumer's guidance and put up returned meds that patients didn’t use.
Pharmacy isn't just about knowing what the medicines do. You also need to be able to get along with the nursing staff and the doctors and be confident to correct their mistakes.
Interning is great! You not only meet people who are interested in the same things you are, but you gain a better understanding of what the actual job includes.
On the last day of my internship, the pharmacist asked me to stay as an employee. Loving what you do and getting paid for it is a definite plus!
