Intern lands a job with Milliken

Josh Anderson, Business Administration Major, Class of 2008
Milliken & Co.

Last summer I interned with Milliken & Company in Barnwell, SC. Going into the internship, I did not know what to expect because I had never been in a manufacturing environment. I was given a project that I worked on all summer, through which I was able to learn about every aspect of the plant - from the financial side to the hands-on aspect of working on the floor. One major thing I learned from the internship is that every aspect of a business is important: when one aspect falters, it effects the entire operation.

One thing I liked most about working at the Milliken plant was the level of involvement I got to partake in. I was not just sitting behind a desk all day. Rather, I was actually out on the floor with the employees and other managers learning how the process took place and trying to find ways to make it more efficient. Also, the level of responsibilty I was given was very nice. It was rather scary at first, however, it made me grow up quicker and understand how to handle a management position.

My experience was wonderful, ultimately landing me a job opportunity with Milliken.
