Facilities
Sure, PC's Georgian architecture looks really nice in brochures.
More important is that you might be spending a lot of time in those buildings: eating, sleeping, socializing, and studying. Here's a little more about those pretty brick buildings with the big columns.
Living Facilities
You'll learn as much living with your roommate as you'll learn in the classroom. And while you and your roommate may not agree on the ethics of drinking out of the milk jug, you will agree that PC's living facilities provide you with a good space to enjoy college life. Over 90% of PC students live in its eleven residence halls, fifteen town homes, and nine apartments.
One of the newest residence halls, Carol International House, is a living and learning facility. Students live among peers from various countries, providing multicultural lessons for all. The fun's not limited to CIH, however: each living facility has its own charm.
Springs Campus Center
The place to go for fun, food, and fitness. During the summer of 2008, the campus center went through a major renovation and it is the newest and coolest place for students to spend quality time. You'll find a brand new fitness center with weight machines, free weights and over 100 cardiovascular machines. Plus, there's a gymnasium on the second floor with a basketball court. The campus center leaves no excuse for the Freshman 15.
Feel free to hang out with your friends in the student lounge areas, complete with couches, chairs, and pool and ping pong tables. If you want a snack between classes or a bite to eat at lunch, evening, or during the day, the expanded food court gives you options galore.
Wellness Facilities (or More Places to Stay Fit)
Okay, technically, these other places to exercises shouldn't go under the heading "Facilities," but we wanted to let you know about the 31-acre intramural complex with football, soccer, and softball fields you'll find on campus. As you might expect, it's where intramural football, soccer, and softball games are played. But it's also a place where you can go to play pick-up games with your friends or in the fields if you'd like.
Speaking of pick-up games, a basketball court is located beside the softball field. The complex also has a walking and jogging trail. Of course, you're free to use the tennis courts located behind one of the dorms on campus, up the street from the intramural complex.
Greenville Dining Hall
GDH, as it's known on campus, is PC's main dining facility. In the mornings you'll always have the choice of a hot or cold breakfast. You're sure to find plenty you like to eat at lunch and dinner too. The fine folks at GDH always prepare several different types of foods daily, including: classic meals, vegetarian meals, international meals, plus the "can't live without em" pizza, hamburgers and fries, fresh sandwiches, soups, and salads. "Chef Kev," a Culinary Institute- trained chef, makes sure that all meals are prepared to his specifications. You'll love having a chef that thinks good food is cool. And at GDH you can dig in with peace of mind: all foods are trans fat free.
The Library
A recent renovation and expansion has made the library a more popular place for students, a swanky spot for you to sit down at one of the many desktop computers, in open spaces for individual or group study, or in study rooms. There's even a study lounge that is available 24/7. Wireless connection allows you work from your laptop or from one that you can check out at the front desk.
Students call the library's media center their "own personal Kinko's," a place to go for making everything from photocopies to presentations to videos. Of course, PC has an extensive academic collection of books, periodicals, and online resources as well. Chances are you'll find what you need on campus. But, if not, interlibrary loan makes it a snap to find what you're looking for in no time flat.
