Student Life Leadership Programs

Mission

In support of the missions of Presbyterian College and the Department of Student Life, Leadership Programs are designed to empower students, faculty, and staff with practical leadership skills for living and working in an increasingly global and etchnologically advanced society.

Goals

  • to foster and encourage civic responsiblity and servant leadership;
  • to encourage personal integrity and ethical leadership;
  • to develop critical thinking and communication skills for resolving conflict;
  • to foster awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures;
  • to encourage a healthy balance between personal, spiritual, family, social, and professional interests;
  • to cultivate mentoring relationships that assist with leadership transitions;
  • to utilize the expertise of model student, faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders;
  • to build a strong network of leaders with close ties to Presbyterian College;
    and to encourage excellence in leadership.

DSL: Paraprofessional Institute>>

Mission

In support of the missions of the Department of Student Life and Presbyterian College, the DSL Paraprofessional Institute is designed to provide paraprofessionals --students employed by the College to serve as Bluefish, Resident Assistants, Multicultural Student Orientation Assistants, SGA Executive Officers, Springs' Managers, and SVS Interns -- with comprehensive training to prepare them for their roles and responsibilities; to provide them with opportunities to network with other paraprofessionals, faculty, staff, and students; and to provide them with opportunities to reflect on how their service as paraprofessionals enhances what they learn in the classroom, regardless of their majors or intended fields of endeavor.
