Welcome new Students.  We are so excited that you will be joining the PC family.  While much has changed since our founding in 1882, there are certain traditions that we still cherish and value as a community.  These traditions are the common tie that binds current students with students and other members of the community who have passed through the sacred halls of PC throughout the years.  From the moment you first step foot on campus for new student orientation, you will become part of this rich tradition.

Throughout orientation, we will engage you in a fun and light-hearted reflection on student experiences from “back in the day.”  We will also familiarize you with some of the traditions - rigorous academics, honor, service, community, and spirit - we hold dear at PC and provide answers to many of the questions you may have about a variety of issues from registration, academics, and housing to student organizations, campus activities, and athletic events - all of which are an important part of the PC experience.  You will have numerous opportunities to meet students, faculty, and staff who are eager to welcome and assist you with your transition to PC.

We invite you to view orientation as a time to explore PC’s traditions and to think about the contributions you will make to PC.  By the end of orientation, we hope you will feel empowered with an awareness of campus resources and the initiative you need to take advantage of the educational opportunities available to you both in- and outside the classroom.

If we can be of assistance to you as you prepare for orientation, please contact us in the Office of Student Life at 1-864-833-8378.  Again, welcome to PC.  We look forward to meeting you soon.

Memorable Traditions

1972 - Freshman Year

"My favorite PC tradition is Homecoming and the Alumni Association meeting every year in the fall.  It is always such a pleasure to honor our alumni and friends and when their peers are on campus and then get the opportunity to see old friends year after year."

Randy Randall, '75
Executive Director of Alumni & Community Relations

PC's Tradition of Service >>

Service is animportant tradition at PC. Our motto, Dum Viviumus Servimus, is Latin for "While we live, we serve." As the motto indicates, service is really a way of life at PC. In fact, the majority of our students regularly participate in service activities through our Student Volunteer Services program, as well as through involvement in many of our registered student organizations (RSOs). Our students have found ways to connect their interests and skills with meaningful service activities that impact local, national, and international communities.
