Learning about Patience and Patients

Carrie M. Moore '09, Biology Major
Internship location:
Laurens County Hospital
I shadowed in the wound center, cardiopulmonary center, and the ER at Laurens County Hospital for my internship. Through my experience, I learned a considerable amount of information about the health care system and what it takes to go into this field--quick decision-making and patience.
The best thing about my internship was seeing how the hospital staff works together to help their patients. The biggest problem I had with my internship was waiting around while the nurses were attending to their other duties, but seeing this showed me that working in a hospital is not just working with patients. I now know that I will have other administrative duties as well.
