Greetings from Presbyterian College!
One of the important aspects of YOUTH DAY (Saturday, November 15, 2008) will be opportunities to celebrate all the young people nominated by their congregations as Outstanding Church Youth Leaders.
YOUTH DAY will offer a full program of events designed for all Middle and High School Youth amongst which all the 2008-2009 OCYLA nominees will be recognized and the overall winner announced – at half-time in that day’s PC v. Coastal Carolina Football game!
In giving this annual award, Presbyterian College hopes to inspire in youth leaders continued service and commitment to Jesus Christ through the Presbyterian Church (USA). Through our OCYLA scholarship program, we seek to recognize and celebrate outstanding youth leadership in our church congregations and communities. You are hereby invited to nominate an outstanding church youth leader from your congregation. If you have any questions, please contact Al Masters (864-833-8475) or Jim Simpson (864-833-8268).
Here’s how it works:
- Choose one Youth from your congregation, a High School Junior or Senior in the 2008-2009 School Year, who has demonstrated exceptional Christian leadership.
- Ask this person to complete the nomination form, including the essay section, and return it to you.
- The Session needs to endorse the nominee with an official vote and mail the completed form and two reference letters back to the college.
- Completed forms must be postmarked by September 30, 2008. (Alternatively, if you wish to submit these materials by email, please send them by that date to afmasters@presby.edu.)
All of the nominees will receive a $2,000 scholarship ($500 per year) to encourage their enrollment at Presbyterian College. The overall winner, one of these nominees, will receive a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year) to attend Presbyterian College.
Sincerely,
Dr. Al Masters Dr. Jim Simpson
