Church youth leaders are celebrated, awarded

Presbyterian College announced its Outstanding Church Youth Leader award winners during its annual Youth Day on Saturday, November 21.

Caroline Krcelic, a senior from Easley, SC was chosen among 30 nominees for the 2009 Outstanding Church Youth Leader Award. Krcelic, a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC, received a $10,000 PC scholarship as part of the award that recognizes young church members’ substantial church leadership in their local churches and at the presbytery level.

Jacob Zimmerman, a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, SC, was chosen as the first runner-up for the award. Kati Newsome, a senior from Matthews Presbyterian Church in Matthews, NC was chosen as the second runner-up. Zimmerman and Newsome both received a contingent $500 annual Presbyterian College scholarship.

Nearly 700 middle school and high school youth came to the Clinton, SC campus for the event. In addition to recognizing the award winners, Youth Day included celebrations, activities, and an afternoon PC Blue Hose football game.

Senior takes mission trip to Africa

“We really wanted to spend time with the members of the church,” Matt Freeman said, “teaching them how to disciple new believers, how to teach young believers how to grow up in the faith, how to read the Bible, and how to pray.”
