Outstanding Church Youth Leader Award 2010
One of the important aspects of Youth Day (Saturday, November 20, 2010) will be opportunities to celebrate all the young people nominated by their congregations as Outstanding Church Youth Leaders.
Youth Day will offer a full program of events designed for all Middle and High School Youth amongst which all the 2010 OCYLA nominees will be recognized and the overall winner announced – at half-time in that day’s PC vs. Davidson Football game.
In giving this annual award, Presbyterian College hopes to inspire in youth leaders continued service and commitment to Jesus Christ through the Presbyterian Church (USA). Through our OCYLA scholarship program, we seek to recognize and celebrate outstanding youth leadership in our church congregations and communities. You are hereby invited to nominate an outstanding church youth leader from your congregation.
The Nominating Forms are available here. If you have any questions, please contact Harry Workman (864) 833-8267.
Here’s how it works:
- Choose one, or more (* see note below) youth from your congregation, a High School Junior or Senior in the 2010-20111 School Year, who has demonstrated exceptional Christian leadership.
- Ask this person to complete the nomination form, including the essay section, and return it to you.
- The Session needs to endorse the nominee with an official vote and email or mail the completed form and two reference letters back to the college.
- Completed forms must be postmarked by November 5, 2010.
All of the nominees will receive a $2,000 scholarship ($500 per year) to encourage their enrollment at Presbyterian College. The overall winner, one of these nominees, will receive a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year) to attend Presbyterian College.
* Note: Congregations with memberships between 400 and 750 members may nominate up to TWO youth; those with more than 750 members may nominate up to THREE youth.
