Elton Pollock remembers the days he and his teammates would dig holes and rake infield dirt to get the PC baseball field ready for home games. It was the early '90's, and he played center field. After a couple of hours of raking and digging, Pollock and his teammates would create a diamond worthy for the Blue Hose to play on.
More than twelve years later, Elton Pollock is the Blue Hose baeball coach. To help with the college's move into NCAA Division I competition, PC officials are looking at the facilities for baseball and softball. They hope to create fan-friendly environs that will have the same positive impact that Bailey Memorial Stadium and Martin Stadium have had on football and soccer, respectively.
Alan Smith '77, the director of athletic advancement, is ready to swing for the fence.
"I'm thrilled that the time has arrived that we now can begin the fund-raising campaigns to address the facility needs for both baseball and softball," he said. "I look forward to putting together the teams that will make these facilities a reality. I'm confident that the PC family will respond to this challenge with enthusiasm and generosity!"
