As part of the study for the transition into NCAA Division I, we examined the suitability of our athletic facilities. It quickly became clear that our baseball facility is merely passable for support of Division I play. Our study validated that the playing surface at the baseball complex is outstanding. However the facility lacks the infrastructure necessary to support game management and game operations. The facility is not nearly as fan-friendly as are the other outstanding athletic facilities we have on campus. This new facility will be an outstanding place to play and watch the PC baseball team compete against some of the best programs from around the country. The facility will be one that fits in with the surrounding architecture such as that which exists at Bailey Memorial Stadium. Since baseball is one of the marquee sports in the Big South Conference, this facility will allow us to host any level of Division I competition and will support our coaching staff's efforts to recruit the most outstanding baseball student-athletes to PC as possible. The renovation of this complex will have the similar major impact on our baseball program as Bailey Memorial and Martin Stadiums have had on our football and soccer programs.
