PC history majors have the opportunity to become involved in our student-led groups, which bring the department together for activities other than class and provide an opportunity for social interaction with fellow students and the faculty. Anyone who is interested in joining one of these groups should contact a faculty member for further information.
Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society
The PC History Department has a chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society. This national organization recognizes student academic achievement, and each year the department hosts an induction ceremony.
The History Club organizes events such as book readings, game nights, and movie discussions; this is led by students with faculty sponsorship. Events occur throughout the academic year.
The History Department also sponsors gatherings of the students and faculty at the beginning and end of each academic year. A pizza party is held each fall semester for all those students who are majoring or interested in majoring in history. This is held in the home of one of the faculty members. The spring event is a barbeque for graduating seniors. Also held in a faculty member’s home, this event is designed to celebrate the graduates’ achievements.
All members of the PC history family, whether alumni or current students, are invited to join the department’s Facebook group. The most up-to-date news on departmental happenings can be found here.
