In 2005, Drs. Roy Campbell and Mike Nelson led a group of 18 students on a Maymester to Vietnam. The courses offered as part of the trip were “A History of Vietnamese Resistance” and “Ho Chi Minh.”
The trip started in Hanoi, where the group visited such sites as Ho Chi Minh’s tomb and the Hoa Lo Prison, or “Hanoi Hilton.” They also visited the cities of Hue and Nha Trang, where they visited a Buddhist temple. Finally, the group finished its trip in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), where they visited a number of sites related to the Vietnam War, including the Cu Chi tunnels, which were used extensively by the Viet Cong.
