Why did you choose to come to PC and what made you interested in majoring in history?

I originally was not considering PC as an option for college until I was introduced to PC by a family friend. I knew that I wanted to attend a small school and not a large university where a majority of my friends attended. After visiting Presbyterian’s campus, I was impressed with all the opportunities PC had to offer from studying abroad to having the ability to have a close relationship with professors.

During my first semester at PC, I was unsure if I wanted to be a history major. However, after learning about the degree program and all the opportunities being a history major had to offer, I saw the passion and conviction with which the professors teach and was convinced that history was the best major for me.

How would you describe your experience in PC’s History Department?

I have greatly enjoyed my time as a history major. The professors have been incredibly supportive and helped me grow as an individual and student. I have enjoyed every classes I have taken as a major but especially Dr. Wiecki’s Spanish Civil War class, which concluded in a trip to Spain. All in all, I am very grateful for the opportunity and knowledge I have gained from the History Department.

What advice would you give to students considering coming to PC and majoring in history?

Being a history major is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. The experiences and skills you gain will last a lifetime. I have learned a great deal about myself and the world around me. Also, I have become a better writer and thinker by my time in the History Department.
