Wireless Laptop Computers
All Presbyterian College faculty, students and staff may borrow wireless laptop computers for use in the Library. All laptops have regular lab computer software as well as printing and file saving capabilities.
Basic information:
- Windows-based wireless laptop computers
- PC ID required for College borrowers
- ALL borrowers are financially responsible for the laptop (damage or theft) while on loan
- Immediately report any loss or damage to the Circulation Desk
- Print/save all work REGULARLY to your personal USB flash drive, e-mail, public folder (Socrates), or the Library printer. Work saved on the laptop is not retained after the computer is shut down!
- Monitor battery strength
In addition, most personal laptops can connect to the wireless network in the Library.
Software installed on the laptops enables them to function in the same manner as Windows machines in the computer labs. Printing is to the Library public printer in the reference area. Software includes: Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft Office 2007 suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access.
The use of the laptops and the campus network requires adherence to the Presbyterian College Acceptable Use Policy.
