French Major and Minor

Requirements for the Major in French

Students who major in French must complete twenty-eight hours taught at or above the 200-level, including FREN 201, 202, 301, 302, 333, 391, 410, and 440; three hours of FREN literature electives taught at 400-level; and additional hours of FREN electives to achieve twenty-eight hours. Students who place above 201 as a result of taking the online placement test will receive academic credit (CR) but will not be awarded academic credit hours for 201 and/or 202.  Although French courses taken in a study abroad program may count toward the major hours, at least two courses (FREN 333 and one 400-level literature course) must be taken on campus at Presbyterian College. One semester or junior year of study abroad in France is recommended for all majors.

Requirements for the Minor in French

Students who minor in French must complete eighteen hours of FREN electives taught at or above the 200-level. One semester or junior year of study abroad in France is recommended for all minors.
