Jane Birmingham Morlan teaches music education and applied voice at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.  Jane was the choral director and music department head at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, South Carolina, where she taught all levels of chorus, musical theater, piano class, music theory, and Advanced Placement music theory. She taught thirty-five yeas in public schools during which time she taught in Virginia and North Carolina as well as South Carolina including general music, K – 12. She has served as a Master Teacher in Advanced Placement Music Theory since 1996 and as a choral clinician in South Carolina MENC and has adjudicated for South Carolina ACDA. Morlan has conducted six European concert tours with high school singers including performances in Paris, London, Vienna, Salzburg, and Amsterdam. In the United States her students have sung at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the United Nations, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the Pentagon, and the United States Capitol. Ms. Morlan is past president of the South Carolina Music Educators Association and was selected for the SCMEA Hall of Fame in 2002.  She has been a district and school teacher of the year three times and has received service awards from Rotary International and the City of Simpsonville.  She holds a B.M.E. and a M.M. from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, with additional graduate work and an additional endorsement in gifted and talented education and advanced placement music theory.  She is a National Board Certified Teacher in Music for Adolescent through Young Adult and the Immediate-Past President of the Southern Division of MENC:  The National Association for Music Education and continues to serve on the MENC National Executive Board.
