Dr. Tim Kintzinger is an Assistant Professor of Music at Presbyterian College. He serves as the Director of Bands and Jazz Studies as well as the Coordinator of Instrumental studies. Dr. Kintzinger directs the Presbyterian College Wind Ensemble, the PC Blue Hose Jazz Band, and  the Blue Thunder Pep Band. He also teaches applied trumpet, improvisation, orchestration & arranging,  music theory, and coaches two jazz combos and the PC Brass Quintet.

              Dr. Kintzinger moved to South Carolina from South Georgia, where he was the director of instrumental studies at Andrew College and served as Principal Trumpet for the Albany, Georgia Symphony. Dr. Kintzinger holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a cognate in Jazz Studies., the MM in trumpet performance from Binghamton University in New York, and the BS in Mechanical Engieering, also from Binghamton. Prior to moving to the Southeast, he was a freelance musician & teacher throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.

              Dr. Kintzinger performs regularly with the Five Points Brass Quintet, which he founded in 2003. He is currently a freelance musician throughout the Carolinas and North Georgia, and has performed with jazz greats Louis Belson, Bob Brookmeyer, Paquito D’Rivera, Gary Foster, Steve Houghton and Steve Smith. He is a member of Music Educators National Conference, College Band Directors National Association (currently treasurer of the SC chapter), and The College Music Society
