The Department of Music at Presbyterian College is a full-service music department offering music classes, lessons, ensembles, and performances that are available to all students at the College. The Department of Music publicizes its performance schedule throughout the region, particularly in Laurens County, and all performances are open to the public – most without an admission charge.
Presbyterian College is an Associate Member of the National Association of Schools of Music. We are approved to offer the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Science in Music Education, and a Music Minor.
Private lessons, ensembles and even music scholarships are open to all students, regardless of their degree path.
The Department of Music has a faculty of scholars, creative artists and active professional performers serving as faculty. Opportunities to study applied instruments include brass, bagpipes, piano, organ, voice, strings, percussion, and woodwinds. Students also have a variety of performing groups from which to choose including chamber orchestra, jazz band, wind ensemble, multiple choirs, opera & musical theatre, and a variety of smaller chamber groups – all of which perform on campus.
