Health services available to all students

August 17, 2010

The Family Healthcare Center in Clinton, a Self Medical Group primary care practice affiliated with Self Regional Healthcare, will continue to offer healthcare services to students while attending Presbyterian College. These services are fee-based and will be charged to the respective student's healthcare insurance.

The Health Center will open on Monday, August 23rd, and has relocated to the PC School of Pharmacy at 307 North Broad Street. Family Healthcare's Nurse Practitioner, Jackie Waldron, will be available by appointment during the hours of 10:30am – 1:15pm, Monday – Friday. To schedule an appointment, please contact ext. 3939.

Ms. Waldron specializes in health care management in the following areas: coughs, colds, ear pain, bronchitis, sinus problems, allergies, asthma, acid reflux, stomach discomfort, eating disorders, viral syndromes, urinary tract infections, medication management for depression, ADD/ADHD, physicals, skin infections, minor injuries, high blood pressure, and women's health.

The School of Pharmacy is located directly across the street from Broad Street Methodist Church. Students who do not have access to a personal automobile or a friend with an automobile should contact Ms. Jill Mechling at ext. 8263 in our Office of Religious Life. Ms. Mechling will coordinate a list of students who have volunteered to help transport students who need a ride to the new Health Center.

Please remember that students who cannot see Ms. Waldron during her normal hours may call Family Healthcare at 833-5986 to schedule an appointment to see a member of the healthcare staff. Also, please remember that Family Healthcare participates in an emergency after-hours call service with Laurens County Hospital, at 833-9100. In the event you need to call that service, please identify yourself as a PC student and a patient of Family Healthcare. The Family Healthcare physician on call will be notified to return your call.

Finally, please watch for further announcements concerning the new Health Center in September. PC and Family Healthcare are currently planning to offer additional services and hours beginning in October. In the meantime, please contact Ms. Susan Gentry-Wright at ext. 8476, if you have questions concerning this transition.
