Friend of PC donates $1 million to School of Pharmacy

August 26, 2009

PC has received a $1 million challenge grant from a friend of the college for the new Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy.

The foundation gift will be used for construction costs associated with the new pharmacy school. Renovations began in May at the former Mary Musgrove Hotel in Clinton where the school will be housed.

“Remarkable gifts such as this have a tremendous impact not only on the projects they fund but on all those good folk associated with it,” said PC president Dr. John Griffith. “In these difficult economic times we are grateful to those who are able to invest in things that are good for the future of all of us. Our pharmacy school, whose mission is to provide the very best patient-focused, community pharmacists to meet the growing need in South Carolina and elsewhere, would not be possible without this kind of support.”

The School of Pharmacy is expected to open in the fall of 2010 with its first class of approximately 80 students.
