Baseball team throws Give Back camp

November 19, 2009

The Blue Hose baseball team recently held its annual Give Back Camp at the PC Baseball Complex. The team hosted fifty-six middle-school-aged students from the Laurens County community.

“This camp is an attempt to give back to the community in an effort to reach out to area kids,” said PC baseball coach Elton Pollock. “We believe, wholeheartedly, in our motto ‘While We Live, We Serve.’”

All of the baseball players and the entire coaching staff helped students with baseball skills during the one-day camp.

“It is always fun to see our guys interact with the kids,” Pollock said. “I believe we actually get more out of it than the kids do.”

In addition to holding the camp, the baseball team participates in service projects with Clinton Elementary School and with Straight Street of Laurens. During the year baseball players also mentor Laurens Middle School students as part of the program Blue Hose Tiger Pals.
