PC alumni living in Atlanta recently packed 2,897 meals at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The PC Atlanta Alumni Chapter members volunteered at the food bank’s Product Rescue Center, which helps direct quality food, beverages, and health products to over 800 non-profit organizations in Metro Atlanta and the North Georgia area.
“Helping others was certainly an important aspect of the project,” said Andrew Tritt ’05. “However, the project also helped raise awareness on the issue of hunger in our area. Hunger is a major issue that is too often overlooked.”
This year was the second consecutive year the Atlanta alumni have volunteered at the bank. Service projects such as these give alumni the opportunity to meet other PC graduates in the area while they continue to live PC’s motto, “While we live, we serve.”
“Even though we have graduated, our school motto is still engrained in us,” said Caroline Dunbar ’04. “That being said, it’s important for us to give back to the communities in which we live.”
The Atlanta Alumni Chapter holds service projects and gatherings so that PC graduates can stay connected while serving their communities. Similar chapters are also located in Columbia and Charlotte as well as the upstate and lowcountry of South Carolina.
