Painted in sunshine and blue skies and brushed with cool autumn breezes, Presbyterian College couldn’t have ordered a nicer day to celebrate Homecoming 2011 on Oct. 15.
Nor could the college have ordered a finer result, as the Blue Hose football team delivered a rousing 28-14 win over Gardner-Webb University in front of thousands of faithful fans, including one of the largest gatherings ever in Hoseville, PC’s year-old student section.
Representing the Mathematics Association of America, Caroline Burch, a senior math and physics major from Greenwood, S.C., was named Homecoming Queen.
An abundance of PC alumni also were on hand for class reunions, the annual Alumni Association awards ceremony, and induction of new members into the Ben Hay Hammet Society, a group honoring all alumni who have been graduates of PC for more than 50 years.
On Friday night before Homecoming, PC hosted a Blue Pride Bash and Reunion Rally at Bailey Memorial Stadium. Homecoming weekend also included numerous tailgates for young alumni, African-American alumni, a variety of academic departments, and members of the 2005 South Atlantic Conference championship football team.
