Campus Housing
Once your student is accepted and decides to attend PC, you'll need to send a a $400 deposit to reserve their space in the freshman class.
Once we have received their deposit, we send incoming freshmen a housing questionnaire and residence hall policy. First year room assignments are based on each student’s housing questionnaire. Requests for roommates or a particular residence hall are honored when possible. After the first year, your student will select his or her roommate and residence hall via a lottery system.
PC has four residence halls for women, three for men, and four that are co-educational by floor. Carol International House and Senior Hall are living-learning quarters, offering unique programs for residents. Seniors may live in college townhouses, the apartment-style Senior Hall, or the college-owned apartments, the Scottish Arms.
Residence hall rooms have single beds, dressers, desks, and chairs; telephone jacks, cable television hookups, and computer ports also are located in each room.
Your student will be responsible for the upkeep of their rooms, including bathrooms in suite arrangements. Cleaning materials are provided by the student. Vacuum cleaners are available in each residence hall.
Presbyterian College residence halls are locked electronically twenty-four hours. Resident students receive a card that allows access into all residence halls during visitation hours.Your student will receive room keys and access cards when they arrive on campus.
An area coordinator and a live-in senior resident assistant supervises each residence hall, and each floor has its own live-in resident assistant. These staff members and students are there to help your son or daughter as needed.
Dining Services
Resident students receive a meal plan offering 17 meals per week. Students may eat their meals in Greenville Dining Hall or in the Springs Grill. The Sodexo Corporation is the college's food service provider.
Alcohol Policies
Alcohol misuse is a serious issue on college campuses. We seek to educate our students on its dangers and view its misuse as detrimental to both our students and the educational purposes of the College.
That said, we also realize that alcohol use is ultimately a decision that will be made by your student. As such we work to provide a campus atmosphere that develops individual responsibility and awareness of the danger of misuse. Administrators, faculty, counselors, and concerned students provide strong support to all students on this issue, particularly those who make a moral or health decision to abstain.
Health Care
Entering students are required to submit a health certificate that includes a report of recent medical examinations and a record of immunizations.
The Student Health Center, located on 307 N.Broad Street (in the Pharmacy School), is open Monday-Friday from 10:30am- 1:15pm to assist students with their health care needs. A Nurse Practitioner is available by appointment Monday through Friday. All medical expenses associated with office visits to referred physicians or the on-campus Nurse Practitioner, as well as other related costs, are to be paid by the student’s insurance carrier.
In the event your student requires medical attention when the Health Center is not open, she/he should seek medical assistance at the Laurens County Hospital . In the event of an emergency, the student should contact PC Public Safety or 911. Residential students should seek assistance from their Resident Assistant and/or the Area Coordinator.
Counseling Services
In the course of normal college experiences, many students find it helpful to ask for assistance as they adjust to the demands of college life. Some students are affected by personal crises while other students suffer from stress or face other issues. Counseling services at PC meet such needs through a treatment model involving up to six sessions of individual psychotherapy for students at a given time. Under more severe clinical circumstances, students may be referred to community providers and/or long-term care facilities for intensive treatment.
Your student may make their own appointment if they choose by contacting the director of counseling services in the student health center. Residence life staff, faculty, or administrators also may make referrals.
Counseling services offered at the health center are free to full-time PC students. Off-campus referrals, acute emergencies, or long term therapy becomes the financial responsibility of the student or his/her family.
Counseling for chemical abuse or dependency is available through the Gateway Counseling Center. This center provides round-the-clock care for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
