P

Does your student get involved?

The typical PC student takes on all sorts of things both in and out of the classroom. And we give them lots of opportunities.

PC offers a range of activities from student government to Greek life, from varsity and intramural sports to religious organzations, from student publications to broadcasting.

The newly renovated Springs Campus Center houses a gymnasium, a fitness center, a social space with big screen TV's and a food court, the student post office, student life offices, student radio station, chaplain's offices, and a host of other key student functions.

The Student Union Board schedules entertainment open to all PC students throughout the academic year. The Board itself provides leadership opportunities for students and is responsible for the planning and production of all types of student activities, including Homecoming, concerts, dances, Vegas Night, and the PC cinema.

The Blue Hose varsity teams are members of the NCAA Division I, subdivision football in the Big South Conference. Sixteen varsity teams include baseball, basketball, football, soccer, golf, tennis, lacrosse, and cross-country for men and basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, tennis, golf, and cross-country for women.

Intramural sports are a popular outlet for students. Fifty percent of the student body participate in intramural competition. PC’s campus features a 31-acre intramural complex with softball, soccer, and football fields, basketball courts, and a lighted jogging/walking trail.

Forty percent of PC students are members of fraternities or sororities. The college has six national fraternities and three national sororities, and PC Greeks are known for their high levels of scholarship, service, and brotherhood/sisterhood.

The Multicultural Student Union encourages the growth of diversity on campus through educational programs, social mixers, bi-monthly meetings, and service projects.

The yearbook (PaC SaC), the newspaper (Blue Stocking), the literary magazine (Figs and Thistles), broadcasting (Radio WPCX), along with drama productions, the artist’s guild, and musical groups attract those interested in media and the performing arts.

More than 40 percent of the student body participates in at least one of the 23 Student Volunteer Service projects, including the Big Brother/Big Sister Program, Special Olympics, Senior Citizen Outreach, and Habitat for Humanity.

Religious life includes the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Celtic Cross, Campus Outreach, Westminster Fellowship, Bluefish, and the Newman Club, all of which hold weekly meetings. The Chaplain’s office directs other events such as Project Life and Winter Conference.
