Memorials
Dr. Eric Johnson, Associate Professor of Psychology, died of heart failure during exam week in December of 2003. His remarkable contributions to the College and to the lives of students are being memorialized in two significant ways.
Swing Set
Students and student organizations raised the funds needed to install the Johnson Memorial Swing Set next to Springs Campus Center just before graduation in 2005. This meets the need Dr. Johnson often noted for a play area on campus for children and for the young at heart. Many thanks to all of Dr. Johnsons friends and students who contributed to this project. Special thanks are in order to Dr. Ann Stidham who shepherded this project around a number of unanticipated roadblocks. The swings were dedicated in a ceremony before the 2005 commencement exercises

Johnson Fellowship
Members of Dr. Johnson's family have made significant contributions to Presbyterian College to endow a scholarship in his name to support student research in psychology, education, and media studies. Since the establishment of the scholarship, friends, colleagues, and former students have helped the fund grow. The scholarship will support deserving students in the conduct and presentation of their research. The Presbyterian College Advancement Office can provide details of the scholarship fund.
Three senior psychology majors were named in the spring of 2005 as the first Johnson Fellows. Jacqueline Bond received funds to defray the costs of her research with Dr. Askew. Sarah Hardee and Chase Jones received funds to present their research in Nashville at the annual meeting of the Southeastern Psychological Association (SEPA).
