College is a tough proposition. So are college athletics, and Division I is the toughest of the lot.
Competition is exhilarating, constant, and at times unforgiving. Games and practices are learning experiences that challenge those who participate to the core. Those who succeed do so because they work hard and prepare well - on all levels.
Student athletes - approximately one-third of PC’s student body - revel in this additional layer of intensity to their college experience. They work to excel not only in the classroom, but in their sport as well. They do it for the glory of their college, for love of their sport, and for the tangible, lifelong skills it teaches them- teamwork, leadership, perseverance in the face of challenge. Many come from backgrounds that place a premium on a good education, but do not have the resources to provide one.
