Prepared

Maggie Horton, '10

"From the academic standpoint, the biology department at PC had a huge impact on my decision to go to dental school and on my success since I started. I was chosen as one of 13 from my class of 70 to be a Gross Anatomy Teaching Assistant to the MUSC Dental Class of 2015. Aside from the academics, I don't think I would be the same without my time at PC. The small college environment allowed me to thrive and to meet people in every area of the college.

"One of the biggest aspects of PC that helped prepare me for dental school was the emphasis on internships and intercultural experiences. I traveled with the biology department to Ecuador and the Galapagos islands, and I recently learned that the Dental School takes a mission trip to Ecuador every spring break to provide free dental work to their people. Also, biology professor Dr. Inman helped me establish an internship with a local dentist in Clinton. The dentist and I still communicate often, and she offers me advice about dental school.

"PC helped me grow into a mature, confident individual, and the service aspect of the school instilled in me a love to help others that is now carried over to my chair side manner in the dental clinic. I am so thankful for my time at PC -- I wouldn't trade it for anything!"
