Frequently asked questions - returning students

Why has my assignent been changed?
All student housing assignments are subject to change.  When students sign up for a housing assignment through the housing lottery (held in April), we do our best to honor the original assignments.  However, circumstances arise that may require students to be relocated to accommodate the housing needs of the college.  When this happens, we will attempt to notify the displaced students as quickly as possible.

My roommate is not who I signed up with through the lottery.  Why has that changed?

Over the summer, some students leave PC for various reasons (transfer, withdrawal, suspension, etc.).  It is the responsibility of the students to notify their roommates if they are not returning to PC.  The Office of Residence Life will not notify students if their roommates are not returning.  Please note that if there is a vacancy in your room at any point, the Office of Residence Life may fill this space if necessary.

I would like to change rooms.  How do I go about doing that?

There are currently no empty rooms on campus, and if spaces become available, we will try to use them to move students out of triple rooms.  We encourage students who are experiencing issues with their room and/or roommate to first talk with their resident assistant, all of whom have been trained to deal with conflict mediation.

Are grills allowed on campus?

Personal grills are not allowed in any residential area due to fire safety issues.  The Office of Residence Life will be working with Campus Services and the Fire Marshall to identify places to install grills for public use.  These will be the only types of grills that may be used on campus.

What do I do if I've lost my room key?

Students who have lost their room key may stop by the Office of Residence Life to request a room key.  Please note that there is a $25 charge to order a replacement key.

I have a problem with my room.  Who should I contact?
