Life after PC

Language and critical analysis skills have proven invaluable for foreign language majors in a number of careers. Of course, many graduates have gone on to teach at the high school and college levels. Still others have enjoyed success in fields such as international banking, law, business, and journalism.

Some foreign language majors have elected to continue their studies and have received prestigious fellowships for post-graduate study. One graduate received a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford in England.

Some have earned fellowships for master's and doctoral work at universities such as Vanderbilt University, University of Virginia, New York University, and Purdue University.

Charlie in Chile:
Student's Spanglish is welcomed

As a part of PC’s Maymester program, I had the opportunity to come to Chile for two weeks last May with the Spanish department. One of the things that struck me at the time about Chileans was that everyone we met seemed to be very open to foreigners in their country. There are so many American influences here, from music to movies to television channels to popular characters on notebooks, clothing, etc. that it does seem to make sense, in a way.
