CODE OF CONDUCT
Presbyterian College prides itself on the sense of community present among students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, and friends of the college. As members of this community, students are expected to balance their freedoms with responsibility and respect for the rules of the College, which have been established to preserve community, and to foster an environment that is conducive to the mission of Presbyterian College.
General Expectations - The decision to become a part of the Presbyterian College community as a student brings with it the expectation for upholding the Honor Code and the Code of Conduct and for abiding by all other Student Life Regulations and Policies (General Campus Policies, Community Living Policies, Student Organization Polices, and Greek Life Policies), which may be amended as the College deems appropriate. Each student is responsible for becoming familiar with these policies each academic year.
Jurisdiction - Honor, which is at the core of the Presbyterian College culture and the reason for the Honor Code and Code of Conduct, is a value and a way of life that extends beyond the boundaries of the College. Students are reminded that they are also citizens of a larger community and are expected to abide by local, state, and federal laws, as well. For this reason, the college rules and regulations apply on campus (including all residence halls, fraternity court, the townhouses, the Liberty House, the Calhoun House and Scottish Arms) and at College-related activities (i.e. Greek socials, study-abroad trips, excursions, conferences, etc.) whether on or off campus. Students may also be sanctioned for behavior even when off campus and unconnected to a school activity, if, in the judgment of College officials, the alleged conduct adversely impacts the college community and its culture of honor.
Students who face charges by local, state, or federal authorities may also be processed through the Student Life conduct system without regard to the timelines for and outcomes of the cases in the local, state, and/or federal court system. The outcomes from a Student Life hearing may differ from those of other court systems.
Note: The Knapsack may be amended as the College deems appropriate.
