7.0 Firearms and Dangerous Possessions

Presbyterian College strives to create a safe environment in which students, faculty and staff may study, work and fellowship with one another.  Violations of the firearms and dangerous possessions policy may result in the assessment of a $100.00 fine, immediate confiscation of device without prior notice to the student(s), suspension, or expulsion, depending on the circumstances.

7.1         Possessing or using dangerous possessions on campus grounds,

in campus buildings, and at College-sponsored events.  This

includes, but is not limited to, the following:  BB guns, pellet guns (even

those with soft pellets), rifles, handguns, slingshots, crossbows, ammunitions,

hand-loading equipment, swords, knives over 6” in length, machetes,

hatchets, and other potentially lethal weapons, devices or accessories

on campus grounds or in campus buildings.

Exceptions to this policy include athletic and ROTC equipment; however, students must make arrangements to store these items at a location approved by the Vice President for Student Life.

Note:  The Knapsack may be amended as the College deems appropriate.

Student Conduct Tips:

If you see a stranger walking with a gun, immediately get out of harms way and contact 911.  (You may also contact campus police, if you are able to do so.)  Do not try to be a hero. City and campus police are trained in emergency response and will know exactly what to do.
