PC hosts Special Olympics Area 5 on campus, inviting those with special needs to participate in sport competitions for which they have had the opportunity to train. This year Special Olympics will be on Friday, April 11.
The opportunity to participate in the sports provides the opportunity for individuals to develop belief in themselves as well as demonstrate that they can and will succeed if given the chance! Special Olympics also transforms communities. When people see Special Olympics athletes in action, they see humanity, joy in competition, pride and potential, and they begin to believe in a different kind of world – a world where everyone is respected and included.
PC students participate by helping with organization of the event, set-up and break-down, record keeping, executing sporting activities, and managing Olympic Town, carnival-type games for younger children.
