The Nest is the Intentional Christian Community that has existed at Reynolds Hall on PC’s campus since the fall semester of 2012. It is a community, friendship, and family founded in the love of Christ, that extends past the walls of the Nest, through the students, faculty, and staff at PC, and as far out into the world as it may travel.
The Nest is not meant to be a community set apart. It is a sanctuary, a safe haven, a refuge, open to all people. It is a place that people may come together; to gather, to sing, to eat, to pray, to laugh, and to cry. It is a place where we promise to meet people with open arms and warm hearts, where we encourage acceptance and love over discrimination and hatred, and where we believe we are brought together by God’s love and that there is always a place at the table.
Psalm 84:1-4 reads, How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Happy are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise.
Every Monday, at 9:30pm, campus worship is held in the Nest in the form of a Taize service. We invite you all to come and spend time with us, to worship with us, to tell your story, and to share in God’s abounding love with us. The very definition of a nest is “a snug retreat or refuge; resting place; home.” To 14 people, this community is our nesting place, but our desire is that you will make it your home.
