PC: Pre-med College?

This past academic year five PC students were accepted to dental school and five to pharmacy school, both records for the number of PC students accepted into the respective schools in one year.

Plus, seven more PC students have been accepted to graduate, nursing, optometry, physical therapy, physician's assistant, and veterinary programs.

Who's to thank for such an exceptional year? Professors credit the students. Students credit the professors. The fact is: PC's reputation in professional schools is sound, playing a large part in this year's success.

"PC students in the past have attended these schools and left a good record," said Millie Green '08, who is in her friend first year at MUSC's dental school. "And that speaks well for future PC students and how they will perform. It is a repeating cycle that pays off for applicants from PC."

The list of recent PC graduates in professional schools is impressive. The 2008 class president at USC's college of pharmacy graduated from PC in 2004. The past two valedictorians at MUSC's School of Medicine are also PC graduates. In '06 and '07, thirteen PC alumni graduated from MUSC's School of Medicine and three from MUSC's College of Pharmacy.

The PC students accepted into science-related professional schools include:

  • Lindsey Buchanan, Jenna Foster, James Luccy, Allison Serdah (USC's College of Pharmacy),
  • Adam Culbertson (Belmont School of Pharmacy, Nashville),
  • Danielle Gill, Millie Green, Juliana Head, and Nathan Head (MUSC's School of Dental Medicine),
  • Will Boyd (School of Dental Medicine at The Medical College of Georgia),
  • Rebecca Wessinger and Vidya Fleetwood (MUSC's School of Medicine),
  • Amy Nowell (University of Alabama School of Optometry),
