O' fun!: Ryan Thackray visits medieval castles in Ireland and
takes a mystery trip to Poland

Greetings from Galway, Ireland!

Studying abroad has been one of the best opportunities I have taken since becoming a student at P.C. I have made friends with students from all over Europe and different parts of the United States. Studying abroad causes you to think outside the box and step out of your comfort zone. This can sometimes cause awkward situations, but they have been great learning experiences and are many times fun to look back upon and laugh about.

A few highlights of my trip so far:

-I took a class entitled The Archaeology of the Medieval Castle in Europe. The class was very informative and we even took a field trip to the central and western parts of Ireland to examine some castles. Now when I am off doing my own sightseeing, I am able to identify different structures of various castles and apply my knowledge from the class to them.

-I joined the Business Society which is sponsored by the school. Just recently we went on a weekend Mystery Trip. We had no idea where we were going until we got to the airport. The only thing we were told was to pack warmly. We ended up going to Warsaw, Poland. The trip was a great experience and an awesome opportunity to meet a lot of Irish students.

-Another highlight actually hasn't happened yet, but it is sure to be a good time. Next Friday, my roommmate Will Stewart and I are leaving to go skiing in the French Alps with the International Students Society. The trip is conjuction with a program that brings together international students who are studying abroad in different countries throughout Europe. It should be a good time to see another part of Europe and meet other students who are studying abroad.

Hope this information is of use to you. If you need anything else or have any questions, please let me know. I have also attached some pictures. Have a great day.

Cheers,
Ryan Thackray
