In the Course of normal college experiences, many students find it helpful to ask for assistance as they adjust to the demands of college life. Some students are affected by personal crises, while other students suffer from stress or face other issues. Student Counseling Services at PC meets such needs through a treatment model involving up to six sessions of individual psychotherapy for students at a given time. Under more severe clinical circumstances, students may be referred to community providers and/or long-term care facilities for intensive treatment.
Students may make their own appointment by contacting the Director of Counseling Services in the Health Center. Counseling Services offered at the Health Center are offered free to full-time PC students. Off-campus referrals, acute emergencies, or long-term therapy becomes the financial responsibility of his/her family.
Counseling for chemical abuse or dependency is available through the Gateway Counseling Center. This Center provides round-the-clock care for students 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday-Friday
Arts and Sciences and Pharmacy students who are currently enrolled in courses are eligible to receive therapeutic services. Students, faculty and staff may seek consultation regarding mental health concerns. There is no charge for PC Student Counseling Services.
PC Student Counseling Services is housed in the Health Center located at 120 E. Calhoun St.
Urgent and Emergency Counseling
Students experiencing distressing situations or emergencies are seen by Counseling Services staff as quickly as possible. Students may come to Counseling Services during regular business hours if they are in distress.
