Lindler Honored as SCBA’s Outstanding Young Banker for 2014

PC alumnus Kevin Lindler ’97 has been named the South Carolina Bankers Association’s Outstanding Young Banker for 2014.

First Citizens Senior Vice President and Metro Columbia Market Executive Kevin W. Lindler was named the South Carolina Bankers Association’s Outstanding Young Banker for 2014 at the 2014 SCBA Annual Meeting, held this past week.

The Outstanding Young Banker Award is the highest honor presented in South Carolina’s banking industry. It is sponsored by the SCBA Past Chairman’s Club and has been given to one deserving banker each year since 1970. Past recipients include many prominent South Carolina bankers.

“Kevin’s accomplishments in banking certainly speak for themselves, but he’s done so much more beyond that,” said First Citizens Chief Executive Officer Jim Apple. “He’s a very centered and well-rounded young man and you see that in his volunteer and community work.

“Kevin is a real credit to the banking industry and I know he has a bright future ahead of him,” Apple added.

Lindler, 40, follows on the heels of last year’s honoree, Glenn D. Buddin, chief executive officer of Walhalla-based Blue Ridge Bank.

“There is no greater honor than to be recognized by your peers,” Lindler said. “I am blessed to be surrounded by people who have influenced me along the way – the leadership here at First Citizens, the people who work with me, my family and friends. This award reflects the impact of those key relationships. It’s a very humbling experience to say the least.”

Lindler joined Columbia-based First Citizens in 2006 after beginning his banking career in 1997 with Wachovia. He is a 1997 graduate of Presbyterian College and a 2005 graduate of the South Carolina Bankers School.

In his current position with First Citizens, Lindler is responsible for overseeing all retail sales and services provided to customers at 23 bank branches in the metropolitan Columbia area, which includes downtown Columbia and the communities of Ballentine, Cayce, Forest Acres, Irmo, Lexington, Northeast Columbia, Sumter and West Columbia.

Lindler currently serves as chairman of the South Carolina Bankers School and is active in the community, serving on the board of the United Way of the Midlands and EdVenture Children’s Museum. He is also a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia where he serves as deacon.

Kevin, wife Ashley and their three children live in Columbia.
