Spring Fling Carnival Coming to PC Campus

Spring Fling Carnival Coming to PC Campus

Presbyterian College will be hosting its first ever Spring Fling Carnival from 5-11 p.m. on April 17 on the Plaza in front of the Greenville Dining Hall. Faculty, students, and families and guests of students, will be able to walk into the carnival free of charge and participate in the festivities.

The carnival will include a ferris wheel, gravitron, dunk tank, inflatable obstacle courses, and many more exciting games all for the PC community. From 5-7 p.m. GDH will be catering the event with walking tacos, corn on the cob, corn dogs, cotton candy, sno-cones, and your typical carnival vittles. Students can purchase concessions by swiping their card. Faculty and staff will be charged the standard rate. There will also be a live DJ to provide the tunes for the event.

The carnival is coordinated and managed by the Student Union Board (S.U.B.), which is advised by Annalise Sinclair,  assistant director of student involvement and Greek life. She hopes that the carnival will “give the students an opportunity to mingle in a fun atmosphere and to meet other students that otherwise they wouldn’t have interacted with.”

In addition to helping organize the carnival, Sinclair will be sacrificing her time in the dunk tank. She will be sitting in the hot seat, along with other members of the fraternity/sorority community, where for $1 per throw, anyone can try to dunk them. All proceeds from this event will go to the Interfraternity Council’s and the Panhellenic Council’s respective charities (Bindy’s Buddy-Walk and Circle of Sisterhood).

S.U.B. has been operating in some capacity since 1964 and has a deep, rich tradition of hosting these types of events and providing attractions for the community – the Spring Fling is no exception. The Spring Fling has mostly consisted of a live concert of local bands, but the S.U.B. believes that the carnival is a more interactive and collaborative experience that will be a greater success in the years to come.

The carnival comes in the midst of a week full of events,  including the Special Olympics and Greek Week.
