Celebrate Homecoming Weekend Oct. 16-17

Presbyterian College’s Homecoming Weekend is right around the corner, and the two days are teeming with various festivities to celebrate our current students, faculty, and staff; the return home of our alumni; and the continuation of PC tradition through this historic weekend.

The celebration kicks off on Friday with Scotoberfest from 12-3 p.m. at the Victory Bell located next to Neville Hall. This festival, hosted by the Student Activities Board and History Department, will incorporate an authentic blend of Scottish and German heritage into a celebration with food, music, games, kilts, lederhosen and dirndl.

Shortly after, the Office of Alumni Relations will host the Neville Hall Campaign Kick Off at 4 p.m. on the front steps of Neville Hall. This event will officially commence the public campaign to raise a total of 11 million dollars to renovate and add on to Neville. All alumni and guests are welcome to attend as PC celebrates this exciting time of change on campus. Refreshments will be provided.

That evening, the Ben Hay Hammet Society Reception honoring members of the class of 1965 on the occasion of their 50th class reunion will take place at the President’s House from 5:30-6:45 p.m.

The day’s events will culminate in the Homecoming Celebration Party and Food Truck Bash at Bailey Stadium from 7-10 p.m. All students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to join the party. The celebration will include a band, a wide variety of food trucks, and designated areas for classes celebrating reunions this year to reconnect with classmates.

On Saturday, the festivities will recommence with the Alumni Awards Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in Edmunds Hall. During this ceremony, various alumni will be honored for their service both to PC and within their communities, and refreshments will be provided in the lobby from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Following the Alumni Awards Ceremony, the Frankie “Porkchop” Ginn Tree and Picnic Dedication will take place at Old Bailey Lacrosse Field at 11 a.m. Through the donations from family and friends, a tree was planted and will be dedicated during this time in memory of “Porkchop,” a man who worked for many years with PC Campus Services and came to be loved by students, faculty, and staff alike.

Starting at 11:30 a.m. at Bailey Stadium, members of the Blue Hose family can enjoy a tailgate lunch before the football game. Kickoff is at 2 p.m., and everyone is encouraged to come support the Blue Hose take on the Charleston Southern Buccaneers.

Following the game, various receptions, dinners, and alumni reunions will be taking place around town. To conclude the weekend, young alumni (Classes of 2005-2015) are invited back to Bailey Stadium for dancing and good company at the “Night Under the Lights” at 8 p.m.
