Presbyterian College Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band Concert to Perform Halloween-themed Concert

The Presbyteriphoto-Joseph-Denzel-12-14an College Wind Ensemble and Jazz band will present their fall concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 in the Belk Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

The performance will begin with the Wind Ensemble playing selections to celebrate the fun of the Halloween season. This includes Highlights from Wicked, a medley of tunes from the famous Broadway show, and Analog, by Jeff Simmons. The other works performed during the 30-minute Wind Ensemble portion of the concert will include a march, a hymn, and an Asian-flavored piece titled Festal Scenes—featuring several wind soloists and lots of percussion.

Following the Wind Ensemble, there will be a Halloween costume contest with two separate $20 cash prizes, one awarded to the younger age category (junior high and younger), and another for the older category (high school and college).  Candy will also be distributed to foreshadow Halloween night.

The 12-member PC Jazz Band will then bring a varied program of six selections, from funk to Motown, Latin to bebop and more.  Improvised solos from the guitar, sax, trumpet, clarinet, and trombone will also be featured.

The concert should conclude by 8:45 p.m.  Audience members are encouraged to wear costumes.
