Presbyterian College to name James C. Shaw, Sr. ’71 the Thomas Aurelius Stallworth ’55 Alumni Award recipient

James C. Shaw, Sr. ’71, a native of Sumter, will be awarded the 2016 Thomas Aurelius Stallworth ’55 Alumni Award from Presbyterian College for embodying the characteristics of Thomas Aurelius Stallworth’s Christian leadership, strong, bold character, integrity, moral courage, and values. Shaw knows and demonstrates the true meaning of neighbor and friend.

During his time at PC, Shaw served as vice president of the student body and president of the Theta Chi fraternity. Shaw was an active participant in the ROTC program, which allowed him to be commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Shaw graduated from USC Law School and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps. His law practice took him to Oklahoma City, Okla., where he and his wife, Ginger, reside. Both of their children are PC alumni–Jane McKnight ’06 and Jimmy Shaw ’03.

He has served on the board of Security Federal Savings and Loan Association, Sooner Federal Savings and Loan Association, INTEGRIS Rural Health, Inc., Infant Crisis Services, and the Oklahoma City chapter of the American Heart Association. He has been a member of the Estate Planning and Probate Section for the Oklahoma Bar Association, and the Oklahoma County Bar Association Fee Grievance and Ethics Committee.

Along with being deeply involved in his profession, he has served the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City, the largest Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Oklahoma City. He served on the Diaconate, and was elected twice to the Session. He served on the Indian Nations Presbytery’s Permanent Judicial Commission, and he served on and chaired the Synod of the Sun’s Permanent Judicial Commission. Shaw also served on the Board of Trustees of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
