Presbyterian College business students score 94th percentile on national comparative assessment
Students from Presbyterian College’s economics and business administration department took the two-hour ETS Major Field Test in business and scored an average 160.3, compared to a national average of 150.1.
Dr. Suzie Smith, Robert M. Vance professor of business administration, and chair of the department explained that according to the comparative data guide for institutions, this puts PC in the 94th percentile.
“We are proud of our students’ high achievements on this national test,” Smith said. “It represents one piece of our comprehensive assessment plan designed to ensure that students master a range of important business skills, including business writing and speaking.”
“I have had the opportunity to take a majority of the classes offered in the business department at Presbyterian College and have been challenged to think critically and deeply in each course,” said Daniel Lott, a senior business major. “The professors are extremely knowledgeable and take their time to ensure each student is prepared to enter a very competitive business world at the end of their four years here.”
The ETS Major Field Tests are comprehensive undergraduate and MBA outcomes assessments designed to measure the critical knowledge and understanding obtained by students in a major field of study. The Major Field Tests go beyond the measurement of factual knowledge by helping faculty understand students’ ability to analyze and solve problems, understand relationships, and interpret material from their major field of study.
“PC’s incredible test results are a testament to the hard work and dedication shown by all in the business department and are a true indication of the value of a business degree from PC.”
