Piedmont Piano Trio to Perform at Presbyterian College


The Presbyterian College Department of Music presents the debut performance of the Piedmont Piano Trio on Tuesday, February 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Edmunds Hall. The trio will perform works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Frank Bridge, and Johannes Brahms. The concert is free and open to the public.

The newly formed Piedmont Piano Trio includes Catherine Hazan, violin; Dr. Richard Thomas, cello; and Amy Blackwood, piano.

Hazan, a Florence, SC native, teaches violin and viola at PC. She studied at Converse College and Catholic University and is a member of the Charleston and Greenville Symphonies. Hazan formerly played in the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra in Rio de Janeiro.

Thomas directs the PC Chamber Orchestra. He is a former member of the Sinfónica de Colombia in Bogota and the Sinfónica Nacional of the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo.

Blackwood is staff accompanist at Lander University. She studied at UNC-Greensboro and has held accompanied positions at the Interlochen Fine Arts Camp and the North Carolina School of the Arts.
