Oscar-winning screenwriter of “BlacKkKlansman” to speak on campus

Kevin Willmott, Oscar-winning screenwriter of the film “BlacKkKlansman,” will speak on Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. in Edmunds Hall. A reception in Edmunds Hall at 6 p.m. will precede Willmott’s talk.

Willmott is a professor in the Film and Media Studies Department at the University of Kansas.

He has written and directed numerous films including the cult classic, “CSA: The Confederate States of America.” He also co-wrote the Spike Lee film “Chi-Raq” and the upcoming “Da 5 Bloods.”  

Willmott grew up in Junction City, Kansas. He is a graduate of Marymount College of Kansas and New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
