Spring concerts abound at PC

This month, the Department of Music at Presbyterian College will present several spring concerts and recitals that will delight the campus and community. Music at the performances ranges from Disney classics to 1700s concertos. All are free and open to the public.

The following is a list of upcoming concerts and recitals:

The PC Ringers on April 15

The PC Ringers will present their spring concert on Monday, April 15. The program will be held in Edmunds Hall at 7:30 p.m. The entertaining concert will include tunes such as “Bear Necessities” from “The Jungle Book,” music from “The Lion King,” and also works by Elgar and Vaughan Williams. Dr. Ron Davis is the director.

PC Chamber Orchestra on April 16

The PC Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Richard Thomas, will offer its Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 in Edmunds Hall.

San Francisco violinist Sue-mi Shin, a native of Korea, will be featured in a performance of the “Haydn Violin Concerto in C.” Shin is a member of Opera San Jose Orchestra and Monterey Symphony and is a faculty member at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California.

Chamber Ensemble on April 23

The spring Chamber Ensemble recital is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Edmunds Hall. Featured ensembles include percussion, strings, and piano.

Honors Recital on April 25

The annual Honors Recital will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m. The recital will begin in Belk Auditorium and then move to Edmunds Hall. The recital celebrates the accomplishments of performers chosen by the music faculty.
