Giving Day 2019 Exceeds Goal

Giving Day 2019 Exceeds Goal

The results are in. This year, more than 600 donors gave $187,090.03 during Giving Day 2019. The second annual 24-hour fundraising campaign took place on May 29.

“There is excitement in seeing our alumni and friends joined together in following the example set forth by our founder,” said Amanda Dowdle ‘14, director of annual giving. “We all play an integral part in the future of Presbyterian College, and the momentum created on Giving Day is something we should all be proud of.”

Giving Day 2019 included separate campaigns to inspire Blue Hose faithful to show their financial support.

Parent Challenge

Elizabeth ’87 and David ’86 Parker, who are alumni as well as parents of two recent graduates, challenged current and former PC parents to give during Giving Day. The Parkers matched parents’ gifts dollar for dollar up to $5,000, all in an effort to help impact the lives of current and future Blue Hose. In total, 96 current and past parents gave on Giving Day.

Class of 2018 Challenge

An anonymous donor who has given to PC for 30 consecutive years challenged the Class of 2018 to follow the donor’s lead to give in consecutive years. The anonymous donor pledged $18 for every gift from a member of the Class of 2018. This challenge encouraged nearly 10% of the class to make a gift.

Pharmacy Challenge

Ken Couch, RPh, Chair of the PC Board of Trustees Pharmacy Committee, challenged alumni and friends to support the School of Pharmacy with a $10,000 gift.

Social Media Challenge

Armed with the #bluehosegive hashtag, all Giving Day 2019 supporters were encouraged to take to their social media accounts and challenge their friends to show their support by making a gift too.

Throughout the day,  Blue Hose alumni, friends and family showed their PC pride by sharing the “I gave” graphic on their social media accounts once they made a gift. Some went a few steps further by sharing a picture of themselves with friends during their time at PC, tagging five friends and asking them to show their support on Giving Day.

Second Annual Blue Hose Giveaway

Those who gave $50 or more to one of the annual funds received a pair of actual blue hose, PC socks featuring Neville Hall. These donors supported the PC Fund, PC Scholarship Fund, the Scotsman Club Scholarship Fund, the Student-Athlete Experience Fund and the School of Pharmacy Annual Fund.

Early Bird and Late Gift Challenges

The Early Bird Challenge and the Late Gift Challenge prove that it’s never too early and it’s never too late to support PC students. Burke Long ‘19 received PC swag for making the first gift of Giving Day 2019. Michelle Jones-Moon ‘14 received PC swag for making the last of this year’s gifts.

Thank you!

If you gave at least a $50 gift to one of the annual funds, your blue hose will arrive soon, along with a thank-you card for supporting PC students on Giving day 2019. Your gift makes it possible for others to experience a PC education.
